I’m a big Sci-Fi fan so this week I watched The Day the Earth Stood Still on a free trial of HBO. I’m glad I did not pay $8.25 to see it. It was not a great film (most re-makes disappoint me) but the quote from John Cleese’s character struck a cord.

“But it’s only on the brink that people find the will to change.”

-Professor Barnhardt (played by John Cleese) in The Day the Earth Stood Still (2008)

As the current year draws to an end, many will make resolutions for the new year. The problem is; unless we are truly fed-up with what we want to change, we will find that our will is all but gone come February.

Don’t be discouraged, just be aware that you just may not yet be on the brink. Wouldn’t it be better to start making the changes now, before you are on the brink of something really terrible.
